The new litter bin which appeared in the High Street near the post office is one of a type of 300 which the council has bought from a firm in Alfreton in Derbyshire called Amberol - at a cost, they say, of 100,000. This is not the true cost to the taxpayer, however, as we have to include the cost of the wages of the bureaucrats who spend their time on procuring such marvels and the allowances of the councillors who supervise them, and the other bureaucrats who collect the taxes which pay for the other bureaucrats and councillors' allowances.

This particular bin was designed with the needs of passing terrorists in mind: the hope is that being mainly made of plastic it would not kill quite as many people as a bin made of metal would if an explosive device went off inside it.
