I like live music, particularly by people who are performing their own material. I don't therefore usually like "Tribute" acts, which is one reason you will not find me in The Standard that much, even though it is just down the road from me at Blackhorse Road.
Nevertheless, here is Bootleg Blondie, who will be playing there tomorrow night. As these things go, they seem pretty good.

Thanks for that and for dropping by. Yes, of course you are right, they do book local acts from time to time, some of which are good. Its a pity that most of these bands don't provide better quality pictures of their playing. There are a number of acts from the Standard on you tube who sadly can't be heard properly or who have been filmed on mobiles, so purely for those reasons I have not felt able to write about them or otherwise put them on this blog. No doubt things will improve with time.
The gmail thing is wierd - this blog site is run by some Germans who are very eccentric in the things they do or do not provide. As I don't pay them anything though I try not to complain too much about things - unless they cut things off I have put on my blog, which they did recently with some tags.

Just one of the reasons the Standard will be badly missed when the council finally "regenerate" the Blackhorse Road area by demolishing the entertainment venue in the area! Although the property slump has meant plans to build hundreds of flats/improve the area for those living there have been put on hold. The Standard is now booking into 2010 even though its now only on a rolling lease.
