I have never been a fan of that whole 'N' thing. I suppose it is meant to make the place sound vaguely American, though the spelling of favourite with the 'U' would tend not to achieve that.
Favourite 'N' Tasty is a fast food 'joint', to be found between the empty carcass of Krish Hairdressers and David Densan Newsagent. It is at 262 Forest Road. It is presumably also handy for people who are too lazy to cross Forest Road to patronise the Forest Kebab.
The place is just the sort of place which I would have expected to have loads of leaflets with their various combos and offers, but surprisingly they don't. They are one of very few take-away places in Waltamstow which don't force a description of their wares through peoples' letter boxes. You have to be there - there are no telephone orders taken.
This left me with a small problem when I visited recently as I had to take notes of what is a relatively large menu of combinations and 'meals' as these places go. Fortunately the man who served me was fairly patient and didn't mind as I took note of a few of the options. Forgive me for not quoting more of them, but I hope this gives an idea of the kind of thing on offer and the price range.
The menu included the usuals, such as quarter pounders (£1.60); large and small portions of fish and chips (£4.00 large, £1.90 small); a chicken value meal comprising 3 'pieces' of chicken, 3 spicy wings, fries and a can of drink (£3.99); a veggie burger for £1.60; and an array of pizzas. The pizzas start at £1 for a 7" with 3 toppings, build up from £2.99 for 9" and 4 toppings, to £4.99 for 4 toppings as a 12" and culminate in the 15" 4 topping pizza at £5.99. No doubt extra toppings and pricing tweeks can be arranged. I forgot to ask what the actual toppings are, but I expect that they won't be vastly different from everywhere else.
The biggest burger, and possibly the one which seems most unique to this establishment is a 'Tower Fillet Burger" which is actually has a fried chicken fillet in some kind of batter with salad (lettuce), hash browns, 'sauce' and cheese between the buns. This costs a £2.39. Soft drinks are 50p each.
