I must apologise for having said that a replica of AV Roe's first successful plane will be on show down on the Walthamstow marshes this afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. I feel like a complete wally. :(

I wrote a post yesterday misunderstanding the use of the words 'next Sunday' in my local paper to mean next Sunday (i.e. Today, as they are in normal English), when they meant the Sunday after next - which will be next Sunday, 12 July 2009. To be fair to the paper, they did specify the date as the 12th later on in their article, but I, for some strange reason, didn't twig to the issue and realise I'd been confused.

Whatever, what looks more like being some talks in a field too small to take off in and an opportunity to use our imaginations (as well as a potentially lame PR Event for BAE Systems and Mercedez-Benz), will mark the 100th anniversary of the beginnings of British aviation, with the RAF Museum at Hendon in some way taking part.

My post speculated whether the plane on display will be able to fly like this other proper replica:

It appears clear now that it won't be flying, which begs the question whether it is really a replica at all. If a plane doesn't fly, is it a plane?
