At 148 Forest Road is the firm of Ahmed and Co. To its right is Homecare Heating and Plumbing Supplies.
The business (Est. 1994) has a black and silver signage, and a waiting area with a veneer floor, two large plants in pots and a few chairs. The waiting area could be of the kind found in any dentist.
What Ahmed and Co do though is not actually extract teeth but provide audit, taxation and accounting services. The windows have a long list of services they are willing to offer, from self-assessment, tax returns, book keeping, PAYE and VAT servies to business start-ups, business plans, budgets and cash-flow, co-formation and business finance. In the sense that they do not actually try to terrify their customers into using their services, I suppose their public face is an improvement on Sam's Accounting Services, a few doors down.
As ever, with 'professionals', I do not recommend that this or that firm is the one for you. I always advise asking about, seekng references and getting an up-front indication as to exactly what they intend to do for your money and when they will do it, with a detailed cost-break-down. This is not an onerous request to make to a firm which is well-run and which will want your business for years ahead.
There are a number of other firms locally who will no doubt provide a choice for the punters, such as it is, including UK Accountant Ltd in Station Road and Michael Bell Accounting in St James's Street.
