Collins Stores is one of those grocers cum convenience places which I have described from time to time in my posts, ranging on Palmerston Road from My Shop to Palmerston Food Centre to Abiraa Supermarket.
All of them having their unique aspects which make them attractive to me. With Collins - 'English and Continental Foods' - it is not the vegetables open to the pavement at the front, the phone cards or the general toiletries they advertise which I noticed first, but the striking awning advertising IRN-BRU, the mighty national soft drink from North of the Border, which is also being heavily promoted on the frontage of Hitesh Store in Pretoria Avenue.
Less attractive, depending on your point of view, is the sign which informs us of the bans of more than 2 school children at a time, as well as healthy forms of get-away like bikes and rollerskates.
