There has been a Polish shop in Walthamstow for some years, in Vernon Road. This is the road that meets the High Street in a T junction opposite Metrobet and the Chequers pub. The corner is occupied by N&A Fishmongers and 1st Choice.
The shop has recently changed hands, and is now run by Henry, a friendly man who speaks great English. He was still in the process of moving the furniture about when I popped in today to see if I could pick up some Polish mustard with horseradish. He is also still developing his inventory, so if you have an interest in making sure the place is stocked with particular items among the Polish bread, sausages, dairy products, snacks, tinned goods, dried goods and cooking aids which people go in there for, this may be a good time to let him know. They have a large range of cooking aids, particularly the packets in the Prymet brand, so people should be able to make those tasty autumnal meals and stews they are craving as the nights draw in and the leaves fall from the trees.
The windows have the same kinds of hand written notices as at places like Lolek but are a tad more respectable, being mainly for room shares in Polish.
