This evening my wife went to Sainsbury's. On the way she saw a lady not far from Lidl in the High Street who had collapsed. Passersby went to help. When she tried to stand up she fell over again. One lady who was trying to help and seemed to have some nursing knowledge advised that an ambulance be called. A young lady with a mobile phone called for an ambulance. The operator who answered immediately put the caller on hold for at least 20 minutes before taking the details as to where the unfortunate person was in order to dispatch an ambulance.
No doubt later on in the year some politician on the make will shake hands with an over-paid NHS executive, turning together to camera like graduates of the Tony Blair School of Grinning Jackanapery and lie to us all about how responsive the ambulances are to emergency calls in our area.
Another target met.
