At 65 St James's Street, round the corner from the other fast food joints near the station is the shell of a business which has gone on to greater and better things at the top of the High Street. Perfect Fried Chicken has not had an easy time of it there, what with Clyde Loakes, leader of the council, singling it out for one of his periodic publicity stunts. Hopefully they will outlast his leadership.

All that is left of the St James's Street store is a silver shuttered frontage with peeling red paintwork on the frames and the surviving but crumbling period features which make up the shopfront. Hopefully, the business up in the High Street is doing better than at the St James's Street relic. It certainly has a better location than the St James's Street shop, which is next door to the now also shut Coach and Horses, and over the zebra crossing from a funeral director's, Lolek and Michael Bell Accounting.
