The local Olympic handover celebrations were cancelled today because of yet another murder using a knife, this time on 18 year old Charles Hendricks in the early hours of Sunday morning. The victim was found by police who later arrested 2 men. Its the third killing dealt with by the police in a month and a half.
The crime scene unfortunately had been near where the local civic celebration of the Olympic handover had been planned to take place, in our 'town square' in front of the Selbourne Walk shopping mall, which caused their cancellation. Local councillors are going to meet in October to see what can be done.

Unfortunately such crimes are becoming all too common, and it makes me wonder whether agreeing to stage the Olympics here was really such a brilliant idea.
Such crimes haven't become commonplace in my part of the world, and I hope they never do, but I fear the worst. Am I just getting old or is tidy behaviour going to hell in a handcart?
