Darussalam Book shop at 226 High St may seem a bit shabby, but they have an online presence from which to pursue their business to a wider audience, making them one of the more commercially go-ahead of the local small businesses.

The name of this multi-lingual book shop translates as 'Abode of Peace'. The books and products are centred around Islam. For those who want to know, and have £5.50, this is the place to pick up an English language copy of the Islamic Fatawa Regarding the Muslim Child, containing all of the 150 Legal Rulings by contemporary scholars specifically aimed at aspects of the lives of Children, such as upbringing, education and treatment etc. They also sell courses in Arabic for English speakers, Qurans, and books about Islam in Arabic, Bengali, Urdu and French.

As well as the books, perfumes, cds, islamic clocks and clothing, they also advertise on their frontage that they are in the business of arranging travel to the hajj. Next door to the Raja. Tel: 0208 5202666.‎
