It seems that we are not to lose all three of the Walthamstow Post Offices which have been facing the axe. Just two of them.
For those interested in knowing what the Prime Minister thinks about these closures, here is a link to 10 Downing Street. I read that and wondered why the government is not making any headway with the public.

That's one post office too many closing. I had an awful job finding places that could handle mail around Gants Hill. The nearest post office, run by a very nice family, was a long walk away, or 3 bus stops. You had to get to a bus stop first, that passed their shop/post office. The main post office was in Ilford, a 20 minute bus ride away and possibly a short walk, depending where you got off the bus number that was used. I had one or two really heavy items that needed to wing their way elsewhere. To avoid traffic, I could have taken the underground, have some fun with the escalators, then wander down the other end of the delightful Wanstead High St which has a post office as part of a pharmacy.
In Inverness, there is one main post office that takes in the overflow of three that closed down in outlying areas (nothing as simple as the descriptions of access given above) where the queues are phenomenal. The senior staff say staff numbers were increased to cope with the added work load. That's a real comfort to those who have to struggle by whatever means to this one post office because there is no choice but to do so.
