The attempts of the authorities to calm the locals about UFOs have not worked very well. We are asked to accept that being under the flightpaths of the London City Airport, Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow , is the likeliest explanation. (I usually miss seeing my house because we go right over it or bank in the wrong place). Nevertheless, the current poll in the local paper suggests that about 9 in 10 us believe we are being buzzed by alien spacecraft.
Apparently, we rate 5th in the UK among places where alien abductions are alleged to have occurred. With local libraries being slashed, the dog track being closed, museums under threat and no cinema or theatre in a borough with a quarter of a million people, it seems like we are making our own entertainment.
