Quicksilver at 196 High Street is an amusement arcade that houses a number of fruit machines and games. They do coin exchange. The shop has a maroon frontage with gold lettering, with gold cherries painted on the glass of the front door. In the window, rather incongruously, are a number of faux graeco-roman busts on pedestals, as if there to imply that putting coins in a slot is a cerebral activity. The window to the right of the entrance has a large picture of what the advertising agency think of as an 'ordinary couple' people round here can identify with - you can tell they are supposed to be 'ordinary' because the man hasn't shaved properly. Smiling with glee, their faces shine at the fluttering tenners depicted falling from the sky for no effort. The caption says 'What can £1 win?', and beneath it in much bigger lettering is '£500'. In the other window, with no intended sarcasm, is a day-glow orange sign with the words 'WOW - New machines now in'.
The branch at 196 is to be found between Arina and the Noble Money Exchange. They are joined locally by their branch at 73 High Street, a much larger operation. Over 18s only.
