This shop at 233 High Street next door to Awesome Games is actually just called Premier Food UK Ltd, and though its shop sign emphasizes their halal butchery and meat operation ,they also sell frozen fish by the bag from the freezers on the right hand wall.
The shop is spotless and busy, the front window mainly containing their beef offers and the counters across which customers make their orders being piled high with chicken. The beef is a good deal in large quantities, though the cuts are not particularly sophisticated: 'diced beef' is £10.99 for 5lb, beef mince and 'beef heel muscle' £7.99 for 5lb, 'curry meat mix' is £5.99 for 5lb. Cows foot can be bought by the limb or cut up by the bag. It is also possible to buy an entire lamb for £45.99. (A tip for those who are seeking expert butchery and charcuterie in the English Style and don't need their meat to be halal. They may be surprised to know that some of the most skilled butchery around is to be had from the unprepossessing Terry's, right at the bottom of the High Street, though Parson's is busier, possibly due to its position. Terry's has the skills as well as what these days is a rare a license to prepare his own cold cooked meats as well as supplying the fresh stuff.)
For those for whom this is important, I do notice, that the halal certificates at Premier Food UK Ltd may be a bit past or close to their sell-by dates: The one on display in the window for the Bray Islamic Society (there is a similar one at Al-Balal Halal), was issued to cover January 2006 to January 2008. Others, for Dean Foods date from 1/7/05 and Summers poultry from 9/5/06.
