At 213 High Street, between Sun On and Premier Food UK Ltd is Awesome Games, an independent computer games business.

Surprisingly for a business selling software which is playable on-line, Awesome Games does not seem to have its own web presence, seemingly making its living out of word of mouth sales and passing trade on the High Street. Its two nearest competitors are the chains Game and Gamestation in Selbourne Walk, both owned by the same company. There were other independent game stores in the area but they moved out as these larger stores moved in.

Awesome Games has some fans who have reviewed them on the internet. Alistair, who lives locally, commented in June 2007 that they were the cheapest place to get games in London and the staff nice and friendly who know their products. Carmen noted in August that they had a good range of games and give good deals.

Given the speed at which computer games and the kit to play them on evolve and come to be discounted, and also given the huge variety in different types of games now available I would recommend that anyone local interested in buying games does their own research, but includes this shop among those they do it in. On my last visit they also seemed to have given over quite a lot of space to dvds. Their nearest competitors are either Game Station or the local chinese pirate dvd sellers, depending on how you look at it.
