Next door to ttcshop at the Textile Centre is Bexters News, a good old-fashioned news agent selling sweets, soft drinks from a fridge, lollies from a slide-top freezer, cigarettes, odd bits of stationary, greetings cards, and offering fax and copying services. In the right hand corner of the shop, there is another one of many kiosks facing the street, selling phone cards. Next to this is the window, which like in many newsagents throughout the country, are cards advertising rooms to let and the services of local tradesmen and women. In the case of Walthamstow, there is an interesting ratio of one ad for a man with a van and one for a painter and decorator, to 6 adverts for 'massage' services.
