The first Peacock store opened in 1884 in Warrington. There are now some 460 of them, including the one on Palace Parade between Tower Boots and Madina Supermarket. The Walthamstow branch faces its sister shop, the completely un-French, Bon Marché across the market at 166/170 High Street, which is part of the Selbourne Walk Mall complex.
The clothes in Peacocks are cheap, (students can get a 10% discount as well) and turn over is fast in the women’s lines. The men’s clothes are to the right of the entrance.
This branch is open from 9.00am to 5.50, Monday to Saturday and from 11.00am to 5.00pm on Sundays.
Fancy that. I thought Peacocks was a relatively newish store. I bought some trousers from there today and they fit absolutely perfectly unlike Asda who's manufacturers seem to think us women have little waists and huge big saddlebags. I'm pleased to say I have nothing to fill the saddlebag part so I don't buy trousers from Asda.
