The Standard Music Venue at the Tryst is set to be swept away by a major development on land around Blackhorse Road tube and overground station. The consultation plans involve some pretty major pourings of concrete. Could they really be being wrapped up behind a veneer of democracy as an exercise in being 'green'? This seems as fake to me as the tribute acts scheduled in coming months to play in this pub at the junction of Ferry Lane, Forest Road, Blackhorse Road and Blackhorse Lane. Local residents are watching developments with serious concern.

Not just music. Its going back a bit, but I once saw John Hegley there.
Thanks for the link. Your blog is fantastic, although can I claim the last half hour back Ive spent browsing through it all.
The council has treated the Standard with the contempt it always does for actual entertainment venues and things to do in Walthamstow.
It didnt bother showing the couple who run the Standard its plans, at community meetings they originally said there were no plans to demolish the standard, then months later they said they would press developers to "re-provide" The Standard.
I think the latest is they'll just knock it down and hope no one notices, they told me they have no power to make the developers create a new music/community venue.
All very sad, but very typical
