The four o'clock lull

by technomist @ 2008-01-25 - 00:05:55

I have this evening been having a chat with a local policeman in Walthamstow, who tells me that our local villainous community have an interesting pattern of misbehaviour. As one would expect possibly, they are generally more active in their activities redistributing the wealth from the respectable part of the community on days when our famous market is most active, though the main crime hotspot is not actually on the market but in the nearby so-called town square area, on foot paths to and from the market, the Mall and Walthamstow Central tube station.

What is odd about the statistics is that there is a steady rise in 'personal thefts' from 11.00am to about 3.00pm and a further peak at around five. But in the hour from 4.00pm to 5.00pm there are half as many such crimes, as during the hours on either side. Who knows what the scallywags are up to during the 4.00pm lull?

I would also subscribe to the siesta theory.
After a hard four hours of thievery, forty winks is probably just what you need!

Won't they be having a cup of tea and a slice of cake, and planning the next jobs? Or they could be picking the kids up from school :)

Presumably they are travelling home to empty the swag bag from the lunchtime session, leaving it nice and empty for the next shift!
