St George's is a genuine, dedicated jewellers. The very pleasant folk here sell jewelry, undertake repairs and will pierce ears.
They do not involve themselves in pawnbroking, cheque cashing or other aspects of the sub-prime credit market which seems to be so prevalent among jewellers in the lower ends of the High Street. They do, however buy gold, silver and watches.
They have been established thirty years, gradually moving up the hill to their present location at 126 High Street, between Cairn's Amusements and the defunct Cheltenham and Gloucester.

They are, like many shops, still advertising Billy Smart's Circus, with a big poster on their front door. The Circus camped out on Wanstead Flats (E12 5HH) from 26 February - 2 March 2008.
