The Tasty Kebab House (tel 0208 521 7766), is opposite the Chequers pub, and between Kidzone and Pound Park.

They do not have a specific take-away menu, but it does have a lot of customers who go there to eat in at lunch times from their interesting halal menu of kebabs (Regular Doner, fries and drink for three pounds)and curry; Meat or chicken, two-pounds fifty; three nan bread for a pound; chick peas, sag aloo or mixed vegetables for two pounds.

This restaurant also coffers lamb or chicken birany at two pounds fifty.
They also sell burgers, fried chicken and pizza.

The historically minded will be interested to know that the Tasty Kebab House, at 116 High Street, is actually on the site of the first Walthamstow Fire Station, which was built in 1894 and manned by volunteers until 1897. The need to push the market stalls aside to get the fire equipment up the road in an emergency eventually led to the station house being moved to Forest Road in 1924.
