Next door to Chef D'Oeuvre at 112B High Street and diagonally opposite rival ladies clothing outlets BAD Warehouse, Bardo and Minx, is French Kiss, a ladies clothing shop which I understand rents premises owned by Waltham Forest council.
I do not know what the terms of the lease are and whether there is a clause in it that they trade in a responsible manner from Council property, but I would hope in any event that they received some advice from Trading Standards about knowingly selling goods with a categorical 'No refunds' policy advertised. Such a policy as initially advertised could easily deceive customers into thinking they are not protected by the provisions of the Sale of Goods Act, which of course, they are.The sign has since come down.
Their clothes range from tights at three pounds, tops starting at five pounds, trousers at ten, dresses and skirts at fifteen and coats at twenty-five pounds. There are plenty of other female clothing shops around, including Well Wear, Opal, Rumours, Lennon, , Peacocks, Bon Marche and Delight Boutique, as well as Sainsbury's or many fine market stalls on the High Street.
Next door to the left is the defunct Burger King, long abandoned but recently taken over as the YMCA Shop.
