At 141 High Street, Minx is well positioned to sell its range of reasonably up to date and fairly priced ladies wear to Sainsbury's shoppers.
It looked to me when I went in as if they were aiming for a custom slightly older than the teen market, but then what do I know - this could be what precocious 12 year olds are wearing these days and I just haven't noticed. None of the clothes looked frumpy or middle aged, being generally elegant or smart casual for women. Some of it could be worn to work. They seemed to me to be slightly more up market than at Bardo, and just up in price range.
The prices seemed OK, with jeans on sale from ₤7.99 and tops around ₤11. For people who would like to check any of this out without having to visit, I'm afraid I can't give you their phone number. The very friendly sales assistant who was there when I asked if I could have this was told by her boss by phone not to give it to me. It is not on display. His choice.
But do think about that attitude and imagine what it would be like having a difficulty over some goods with this shop. Would you enjoy having to deal with a proprietor who was not in his business but did not want to be contactable?
