Next door to Rosa Fashions Ltd, is a shop which when it openned, was named Simple Design. It appeared to presage an interesting development in the socio-economic life of Walthamstow, though in the current economic downturn I think they will find times tough.

Simple Design offered the home owners of Walthamstow who were responsible for some of the skips we saw in the last year or so ago in the southern parts of the borough, the kind of better quality designs for kitchen and bathroom modernizations which they hitherto had to head to Islington for or which necessitated a trip to one of those ugly sheds in Tottenham Hale, off the North Circular or Forest Road, that are so beloved the B & Qs and Homebases of this world.

As well as design, they provided building services including electrical and plumbing work and had ranges of ECO Kitchens, Blanco-German, Daewoo and Hotpoint appliances. They had some interesting flooring materials as well.

Now they have been renamed Lux Kitchens and look anything but luxurious, given the higgledy-piggledy interior.
