Next door to Manze's Pie and Eel Shop is Home Sweet Home, a shop which rewards greater examination. Inside and to the right of the front door is a separate business selling mobile phones. The rolled up carpets to the left of the door give a hint of what lies within but one has to go to the back of the shop to see and appreciate the fuller display of Belgian, Chinese and Turkish rugs on offer at very reasonable prices.
As well as the rugs, Home Sweet Home sells curtains, curtain poles, pillows (advertised at five pounds each in the doorway), blinds, blankets, bath sets, sofa covers and quilts.
Open from 10.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Saturday and as of recently, 12.00noon to 4.00pm on Sundays, to take advantage of the increasing life the lower part of the High Street has on this day.
