Euphoria, next door to Robert Barron, has its first letter E in that zig-zaggy Greek way that put most of us off mathematics at too early an age. Its sign tells us that Euphoria is 'A state of mind and body' though unhelpfully does not go further and tell us which state.
I do not think of this cafe as a jumping up and down for joy sort of place. It's more of another centre of organised loafing like Bar Rendezvous and is not as lively as Cafe Rio next door.
Euphoria sells smoothies and fresh juice, but concentrates on coffee, espresso, mocha, latte -what they describe as gourmet coffee - including their own blend of Columbian and African Coffee. Sounds good doesn't it? But think about this - would you buy a wine advertised as 'a blend of Australian and European' wine? I think you would not without knowing much much more.
The sign on the store front includes flags of a number of nations to make us all feel one happy family of coffee drinkers - I could identify five of the seven - the UK, China (People's Republic), Pakistan, India and the United States of America.
The food advertised consists of bagels (salmon and cream cheese) and panini, with a sign indicating these, or something else which is not advertised, are halal. They sometimes have four tables with 8 chairs which have been known in the past block the free flow of pedestrians on the pavement to either side of the front door. Recently though, I have noticed that cafe Rio has been encroaching onto the space in front of the Euphoria with their outdoor tables. There seems to be a rivalry between the two businesses which will end in tears.
I have noticed that this cafe often has groups of ladies enjoying a coffee and a chat when for some reason or other the large crowd at Cafe Rio next door is a bit masculine.
