Chain Reaction, next to Cafe Rio, reminds me very much of Capital Gold further down the High Street, even unto its use of black and yellow advertising on the frontage. It is another discount jeweler which says it is currently having a Half Price Sale! and with New Lower Prices offering their goods 'from the manufacturers direct to the public'. A bit like many other businesses, in fact, which are retailing their wares on the High Street.
As well as selling jewelry, they are pawn brokers, offer cash loans and cashing cheques. How they differ in this regard from Oakam, I am not clear. No details of the costs involved are on display to the street. As ever, I recommend those for whom times are tight to get financial advice, go to the CAB or save at a Credit Union to avoid going into debts that they may have difficulty managing.
