Ligita Hair and Beauty Salon, or as they exotically put it, Hair and Beauty Salon Ligita, is at 57 the High Street, next door to Crest. It opened seeking an initial custom by marketing itself to the Lithuanian and Latvian community which shop at Baltika, but the owner does speak good English and seems friendly. The decor of her salon is modern, elegant and stylish, the shop uncluttered and calm.
This was also, on opening in October 2007, yet another business seeking to supply personal beauty services to women in Walthamstow while providing no details in sight of the street of opening times, the exact services offered or of any prices. As such it joined a cluster of other hairdressers such as Glamour, JK Hair and Tanning and Beste which I urged at that time to have the courage of Excel World and Robert Barron to let their customers know what they can expect to pay when they enter, without the risk of embarrassing surprises.
Since then, I am very pleased to report that either common sense or the recession has caused a re-think, as Glamour and Beste have placed some basic information about their charges in their window, and Ligita have decided to tell the world that a spray tan will set you back £17, a Man's's cut and blow dry will cost from £10 and for a Lady, it starts at £18.
