This business, which is diagonally opposite the Turkish Shop reminds me of the Woolworth's of my childhood. Its goods are functional and appear a little old-fashioned. (As did Woolworth's even then.)

However, they do sell what you want when you have just moved in to a new place and are being careful with the first few purchases. They sell fairly priced tools and gadgets for improving homes, electrical flexes and devices, plastic buckets, mops and brooms, sets of glasses displayed with saucers for greeting guests, stacks of pots, kitchen wares, utensils and storage jars, children's stationary, bed spread sets, quilts, pillows, greetings cards, ironing boards and other such impulse buys.

There is a sign in the window saying that only two children are allowed in the shop at a time. The hubble bubble pipe which rounds off the window display reminds me that this is not the Woolworths of yesteryear. Today's Woolworth's is closed, having suffered from the mistaken belief that it was in some way 'aspirational', and so had over-designed and over-charged for nearly everything which Hobby Home sells.

Nest door, to the left, is Jhelum Jewellers.
