HMS Bazaar is not the flagship of our newly privatized Navy, but an inviting Bangladeshi shop which sells reasonably priced Halal meat. It offers these in bright, clean looking conditions.
The shop is proud of a variety of frozen Bangladeshi freshwater fish which they advertise, with pictures for the uninitiated, outside the shop. These include such delicacies as Kathla, Hilsha, Boal, Pangesh, Rohi, Ayer, Mirgal, Telapia and Cetal.
They also offer something called 'polutry' which is not a medieval word for 'an act of attempted despoilation of farmyard animals organised for gain' but a reference by the signwriter to the proprietor's line in chicken meat.
On display at the front are a few vegetables and inside they sell snacks, semolina cassava and yam flour, pulses and rice, cooking additives, spices, pickles and curry mixes.
